Full Time, Permanent role: 42.5 hours per week; Monday to Friday 08.00-16.30

A Valid UK Driving License is essential for this role.

Our commitment to delivering market-leading repairs, refurbishment, and building maintenance services demonstrates our strength and value as a socially responsible, environmentally conscious provider. We aim to remain in the hearts and minds of our clients and end users across various sectors and cultural backgrounds throughout the UK.

Are you an experienced Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) Manager looking to make your mark? This is an exciting time to join Mears as we expand. We are seeking a Regional SHE Manager, ideally based in London, willing to cover a large geographical area.

About the Role:

Providing advice and support to operational and administrative teams, the Regional SHE Manager will oversee all SHE aspects across our contracts involving construction and non-construction activities within the branch. Responsibilities include monitoring policy compliance, supporting staff, reporting non-compliance, and fostering a strong health and safety culture among staff and subcontractors.

You will meet KPIs through compliance audits, produce reports with findings and actions, and collaborate with Branch Managers to resolve issues. You will also develop good relationships with clients and staff, delivering high-quality SHE support that ensures legislative and policy compliance.

The role involves delivering formal training, for which a Level 3 qualification in training is advantageous but not essential, as we can support your development. Excellent communication skills and regular travel are required to support field teams across London and South.

All roles require UK work entitlement; visa sponsorship is not offered.

Role Criteria:
  • Experience in construction H&S
  • Experience in Social Housing
  • Valid UK Driving License
  • Knowledge of health and safety legislation
  • Understanding of health and safety in property maintenance/management
  • Proactive, team-oriented attitude
  • Initiative, confidence, decisiveness, reliability, patience, approachability, and a willingness to develop
Desirable Requirements:
  • Diploma or Level 6 qualification in Health and Safety
  • Environmental management qualification
  • Auditor qualification
  • Other relevant H&S qualifications (e.g., scaffolding, temp works)
Benefits:
  • Staff perks via Mears Rewards, including discounts and holidays
  • Training and development opportunities
  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
  • Employee support and wellbeing services
  • Pension, life insurance, and share scheme
  • Annual Fun Day and volunteering leave
  • Family-friendly policies
