Job summary

Smiths Detection is seeking an experienced Regional Service HSE Manager to drive a proactive safety culture across Europe & Africa. You will partner with Service Leaders, Field Service Engineers, Operations and customers to embed best practice and continuously improve health, safety and environmental performance.

The role reports to the Global EHS Director and requires influencing, engaging and building trust across international teams. Travel is approximately 30% across UK, Europe and Africa.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in Health, Safety and Environmental leadership roles in Manufacturing/Industrial Automation.
• Professional certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, CSP, CRSP or equivalent.
• Experience supporting field-based engineering, service, manufacturing or technical operations teams.
• Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation and risk management principles.
• Experience leading investigations and implementing effective corrective actions.
• The confidence to challenge, influence and coach stakeholders at all levels.
• Experience operating within a global matrix organisation.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• A hands-on, pragmatic and collaborative approach.

Responsibilities

• Lead deployment and implementation of EHS policies, standards and programmes across the region.
• Champion a safety-first culture through coaching and visible leadership.
• Act as primary EHS advisor to regional service leadership teams.
• Conduct field safety assessments, audits, inspections and risk reviews at customer sites.
• Support incident investigations and corrective action management.
• Drive compliance with local legislation and ISO management systems.
• Monitor regional HSE performance metrics and identify improvement opportunities.
• Support business continuity planning and scenario testing.
• Deliver EHS awareness initiatives and toolbox talks.
• Partner with customers, contractors and external stakeholders on health, safety and compliance matters.
• Share best practice across the global organisation.
