Job summary

The Cala Group is seeking a Health Safety and Environmental Advisor to provide HSE support across the Chiltern region. You will act as the focal point for HSE, working with regional management and project teams to drive continuous improvement in HSE performance.

Responsibilities include developing the HSE management system, conducting inspections and audits, travel across the region, and supporting contractor management. A NEBOSH qualification and strong UK HSE knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a Health, Safety and Environmental advisory role, ideally within construction, housebuilding or a similar regulated environment.
• Strong working knowledge of UK HSE legislation, best practice and compliance requirements.
• Experience of conducting site inspections, audits and incident investigations.
• Confident communicator with the ability to coach, influence and challenge at all levels.
• Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities across a regional remit.
• Willingness to travel regularly across the region.
• Experience supporting contractor management and supply chain engagement.
• Familiarity with environmental management and sustainability initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with HSE Managers to improve regional HSE performance.
• Provide guidance and ensure Cala Group standards, HSE management system and legal requirements.
• Contribute to the development of the HSE management system and improvement plans.
• Raise HSE awareness across departments and with contractors.
• Assist in regional training plan development and delivery of HSE training.
• Advise on works packages and attend tender meetings with consultants or contractors.
• Conduct HSE inspections and audits and close out actions.
• Visit projects to coach site teams to maintain high HSE standards.
• Review HSE documentation and ensure timely reporting.
