Job summary

Firetecnics is seeking a Field Based Fire Alarm Service & Maintenance Engineer to cover Hastings, Bexhill and surrounding areas. The role focuses on planned servicing, fault diagnosis and first-time fixes on fire detection and alarm systems, with training available across AOV and emergency lighting.

Qualifications

Hands-on fire alarm service and maintenance experience with planned servicing and fault diagnosis.
Experience with conventional and analogue addressable fire alarm systems.
A logical, methodical approach to fault-finding and a willingness to develop greater technical independence.
Ability to work responsibly on customer sites and take ownership of service activity within your level of competence.
Comfort using laptops, diagnostic tools and manufacturer software.
Good understanding of BS 5839-1 and BS5839-6:2019+A1:2020, strong reporting and customer communication.
Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

Service and maintain fire detection and alarm systems in accordance with BS 5839-1:2025 and BS 5839-6:2019+A1:2020.
Attend reactive fault calls, diagnose system issues methodically and complete first-time fixes where possible.
Use panel information, event histories and relevant software tools to support fault diagnosis.
Identify defects and remedial requirements, completing small works where required and within competence.
Produce accurate engineer reports and compliance documentation.
Represent Firetecnics professionally with customers, residents, site teams and colleagues.
Develop capability across AOV systems and emergency lighting, with training and sign-off as needed.
Maintain van stock, tools and equipment, work safely and participate in out-of-hours rota.
