Job summary

Fortus Recruitment Group in Essex is seeking an experienced Fire Alarm Engineer to carry out routine servicing, maintenance, fault-finding and small remedial works across commercial and residential sites.

You will service conventional and addressable fire alarm systems with a focus on BS 5839 standards, reporting and commissioning as required. The role offers a competitive £38,000 base salary with overtime and an on-call rota for earnings potential of £50,000–£55,000+ per year.

Qualifications

• FIA Qualifications (Units 1, 4 or 5) or equivalent modular certifications.
• Experience servicing addressable and conventional fire alarm systems.
• Solid understanding of BS 5839 standards.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive servicing on conventional and addressable fire alarm systems.
• Diagnose faults, conduct testing, and complete remedial repairs in accordance with BS 5839 standards.
• Complete small works, device replacements, and commissioning where required.
• Ensure accurate reporting, asset tracking, and compliance sign-off via digital work-order tablets.
• Participate in an on-call rota (with standby allowance and enhanced call-out rates).

About the Role
