Job summary

Fortus Recruitment Group Limited is recruiting for a Fire Alarm Service & Maintenance Engineer based in Essex to service and maintain conventional and addressable fire alarm systems across commercial and residential sites. The role offers a competitive £38,000 basic salary with overtime and on-call availability, with realistic earnings of £50,000–£55,000+ per annum.

You will diagnose faults, perform PPMs, and complete small remedial works in line with BS 5839 standards, using digital work-order

Qualifications

• FIA qualifications (Units 1, 4, 5 or equivalent)
• Experience servicing addressable and conventional fire alarm systems e.g., Advanced, Morley, Kentec, C-TEC
• Solid understanding of BS 5839-1 standards
• Full UK Driving Licence

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive servicing on fire alarm systems
• Diagnose faults, test, and complete remedial repairs
• Complete small works, device replacements, and commissioning when required
• Ensure accurate reporting and asset tracking via digital work-orders
• Participate in an on-call rota with enhanced call-out rates

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Fire Alarm Engineer based in Essex to carry out routine servicing, maintenance, fault-finding, and small remedial works across commercial and residential sites.

This role offers a competitive basic salary of £38,000, with plenty of overtime and on-call availability allowing realistic earnings of £50,000 - £55,000+ per annum.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive servicing on conventional and addressable fire alarm systems.

• Diagnose faults, conduct testing, and complete remedial repairs in accordance with BS 5839 standards.

• Complete small works, device replacements, and commissioning where required.

• Ensure accurate reporting, asset tracking, and compliance sign-off via digital work-order tablets.

• Participate in an on-call rota (with standby allowance and enhanced call-out rates).

Requirements

• FIA Qualifications (Units 1, 4, 5 or equivalent modular certifications).

• Demonstrable experience servicing and maintaining addressable and conventional fire alarm systems (e.g., Advanced, Morley, Kentec, C-TEC).

• Solid understanding of British Standards (BS 5839-1).

• Full UK Driving Licence.
