Job summary

Stagecoach Group Limited is seeking an experienced Engineering Director to lead our South region, spanning eight maintenance depots across Hampshire, West Sussex, and Surrey. You will drive safe, reliable vehicle operation, champion regulatory compliance, and support a high-performing engineering team.

Reporting to the Managing Director, you will coordinate with stakeholders, manage budgets and KPIs, and travel across the South region, with relocation support available where applicable.

Qualifications

• Formal engineering qualification is required.
• Transport manager qualification is desirable but not essential.
• Experience leading engineering operations across multiple depots.
• Knowledge of health and safety, environmental, and transport legislation.
• Proven ability to manage budgets and KPIs in a unionised environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead multi-site engineering teams to deliver safe, reliable, and well-presented vehicles.
• Oversee depot facilities, premises, and engineering equipment across the region.
• Promote a safety-first culture and ensure regulatory compliance and company standards.
• Develop team capability through coaching, mentoring, and technical training.
• Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including local authorities and unions.
• Drive continuous improvement and innovation within engineering.
• Manage performance to meet budgets, KPIs, and service expectations.
• Collaborate with colleagues to improve customer satisfaction and align with Stagecoach CVP.
