Job summary

Stagecoach is seeking an experienced Engineering Director to lead South region operations across Hampshire, West Sussex and Surrey. You will oversee eight maintenance depots, ensuring safety, reliability and compliant operations while supporting and developing a high-performing engineering team.

Reporting to the MD, you’ll drive continuous improvement, manage budgets and KPIs, and coordinate with authorities and unions. A relocation-support package is available for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Qualified in engineering with a recognised engineering qualification.
• Experience leading multi-site engineering operations.
• Collaborative, inclusive leadership with strong communication.
• Knowledge of health & safety, environmental and transport legislation.
• Experience delivering to KPIs and managing budgets in a unionised environment.
• Willingness to travel across the South and relocation as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead multi-site engineering teams to deliver safe, reliable and well-presented vehicles.
• Oversee depot facilities, premises and engineering equipment across the region.
• Promote a safety-first culture and ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
• Develop team capability through coaching, mentoring and training.
• Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders including authorities and unions.
• Champion continuous improvement and innovation within engineering.
• Manage performance to meet budgets, KPIs and service expectations.
• Collaborate with colleagues to improve customer satisfaction and align with CVP.
