Job summary

Opus People Solutions are recruiting for HGV Class 2 Drivers to join Brentwood Borough Council's Waste & Street Care team on an ongoing temporary basis at Warley Depot. Immediate start available following induction.

You will drive Class 2 vehicles around Brentwood, perform checks and defects reporting, and maintain safety and customer service standards. Required: valid Class 2 Licence, Driver CPC, clean driving record, and no more than six penalty points.

Qualifications

• Valid Class 2 (Category C) HGV Licence required.
• Driver CPC qualification required.
• No more than six penalty points on licence.
• Good professional driving record and safety compliance.
• Understanding of road transport legislation and health and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Drive HGV Class 2 vehicles across Brentwood and surrounding areas.
• Collect domestic waste and recycling as part of the team.
• Carry out vehicle checks, inspections and defect reporting.
• Ensure compliance with driver hours regulations and safety standards.
• Collaborate with supervisors and teams; report issues.
• Maintain excellent customer service when interacting with the public.

Pay: £17.78 per hour PAYE / £22.63 per hour UMB

Contract: Temporary Ongoing Contract

Working hours: 37 hours per week, Monday-Friday 7:30am-3:30pm

• Carry out vehicle checks, inspections and defect reporting.
• Ensure compliance with driver hours regulations and health and safety standards.
• Work closely with supervisors and operational teams reporting any issues.
• Maintain excellent customer service standards when interacting with the public.

What we're looking for:

• Valid Class 2 (Category C) HGV Licence.
• Valid Driver CPC qualification.
• No more than six penalty points on your licence.
• Good professional driving record.
• Ability to work safely, meet deadlines and remain calm under pressure.
• Understanding of road transport legislation and health and safety requirements.
