Job summary

Global Ardour Recycling is seeking a Recycling Operative with crane experience to join our small team in Bury. You will handle scrap metal, grade metals, and operate the 360 material handler as required, ensuring safe loading of ferrous loads.

You'll work outdoors on site at Birch Street with morning to afternoon shifts, including some bank holidays. A reliable, detail‑oriented worker with computer literacy and weighbridge familiarity will fit best.

Responsibilities

• Serve trade customers and the public selling scrap metal.
• Grade metals and enter weights into the weighbridge tablet system.
• Operate a 360 material handler with grab attachment when required.
• Load baled and/or loose ferrous scrap into artic bulker trailers ensuring safe operation and max weights.

Role: Recycling Operative

Location: Birch Street, Bury

Hours: Between 7am and 4:30pm Monday to Thursday, 7am to 3:30pm Fridays plus 7am to 12pm Saturdays, some bank holiday working is required.

The role: We’re looking for a recycling operative with crane experience to join our small team in Bury.

Key Responsibilities:

• You will be required to serve trade customers and members of the public wishing to sell their scrap metal.
• You will grade the metals and enter weights onto the Weighbridge system via a tablet.
• When required, you will operate a 360 material handler with grab attachment to receive and sort ferrous metal loads.
• You will be responsible for loading baled and/or loose ferrous scrap into artic bulker trailers ensuring safe operation of the machine, maximum weights and efficient turnaround.
• Follow safe systems of work at all times.
• To work with and to adopt all Health and Safety procedures.
• To liaise with the Site Manager on a daily basis to determine work loads for the day. To inform management of any defects that may cause any item of equipment to be either unsafe or unroadworthy.
• To keep the yard clean and tidy.
• Any other duties as directed by the Site Manager.

The ideal candidate:

• The ideal candidate will have experience driving plant machinery (360 grab / FLT)
• Have experience of the recycling or scrap metal industry.
• Enjoys working outdoors in a busy environment
• Reliable with a strong work ethic and demonstrate a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Computer literate
• Weighbridge experience is advantageous
