Job summary

Global Ardour Recycling is seeking a Recycling Operative with scrap experience to join our Hitchin site. This role offers the chance to contribute to a growing, sustainability-focused business and work within a friendly, family-like team.

You will be responsible for safe loading of containers, moving vehicles on site, adhering to H&S procedures, depolluting ELVs, and maintaining a clean yard while supporting a positive, can-do culture.

Qualifications

• Experience in recycling/scrap operations.
• Ability to remove engines and heavy parts.
• Comfortable working under pressure and adapting to a fast-paced environment.
• Mechanical background with safety-conscious approach.

Responsibilities

• Safe loading of containers on site.
• Safe movement of vehicles on the container tilter loader.
• Follow on-site H&S procedures and report defects.
• Keep yard clean and hazard-free.
• Depollution of End-of-Life Vehicles (ELVs) with full training.
• Remove catalytic converters from vehicles.
• Undertake other ad-hoc duties as required.

The Role:

We are looking to recruit aRecycling Operativewith scrap experience to join our established team based at our site in Hitchin. This is an exciting opportunity to join us in a period of significant change and be part of the next chapter in this well-established Recycling Business.

What you will be doing:

• Responsible for ensuring the safe loading of containers on site
• Ensuring the safe movement and manoeuvring of vehicles on and off the container tilter loader
• Working closely with others, ensuring good communication and following instructions
• To work within and to adopt all H&S procedures that are in force at all the companies' depots.
• To inform management immediately of any defects that may cause any item of equipment to be either unsafe or unroadworthy.
• To keep the yard clean and tidy and free from hazards.
• Undertaking the depollution of End-of-Life Vehicles (ELVs) - removing and storing parts safely (full training provided)
• Removing of catalytic convertors from vehicles
• Any other ad-hoc duties required.

The ideal candidate:

• Crane experience (desirable, not essential)
• Recycling / scrap experience
• Experience of removing engines
• An ability to work under pressure, solve problems and provide a consistently positive contribution to the team
• Mechanical experience
• You will also: ensure high standards of delivery and customer service; be determined, resilient and flexible; demonstrate a positive attitude
