Job summary

Global Ardour Recycling, based at Wallace Way, Hitchin, is seeking a Recycling Operative to join our team. The role offers 48 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with potential earnings from £31,000 per annum.

You will be responsible for safe container loading, vehicle movement on and off the container tilter loader, FLT duties, depollution of End-of-Life Vehicles, removal of catalytic converters, and general site housekeeping. Training is provided.

Qualifications

• Crane experience is desirable but not essential.
• Recycling/scrap experience is required.
• Experience removing engines is a plus.
• Mechanical experience is beneficial.
• Ability to work under pressure and contribute positively to the team.

Responsibilities

• Load containers safely on site.
• Move vehicles on/off the container tiler loader safely.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues and follow instructions.
• Carry out FLT duties.
• Follow all health & safety procedures at depots.
• Inform management of any unsafe equipment.
• Keep the yard clean and hazard-free.
• Depollute End-of-Life Vehicles (ELVs) and store parts safely.
• Remove catalytic converters from vehicles.
• Perform any other ad-hoc duties.

The Role:

We are looking to recruit aRecycling Operativewith scrap experience to join our established team based at our site in Hitchin. This is an exciting opportunity to join us in a period of significant change and be part of the next chapter in this well-established Recycling Business.

What you will be doing:

• Responsible for ensuring the safe loading of containers on site
• Ensuring the safe movement and manoeuvring of vehicles on and off the container tilter loader
• Working closely with others, ensuring good communication and following instructions
• FLT duties
• To work within and to adopt all H&S procedures that are in force at all the companies’ depots.
• To inform management immediately of any defects that may cause any item of equipment to be either unsafe or unroadworthy.
• To keep the yard clean and tidy and free from hazards.
• Undertaking the depollution of End-of-Life Vehicles (ELVs) – removing and storing parts safely (full training provided)
• Removing of catalytic convertors from vehicles
• Any other ad-hoc duties required.

The ideal candidate:

• Crane experience (desirable, not essential)
• Recycling / scrap experience
• Experience of removing engines
• An ability to work under pressure, solve problems and provide a consistently positive contribution to the team
• Mechanical experience
• You will also: ensure high standards of delivery and customer service; be determined, resilient and flexible; demonstrate a positive attitude
