Job description

We're looking for a proactive, approachable and commercially aware Recruitment Advisor to join the First Fence UK team. You'll manage recruitment across all areas of the business, helping us attract and appoint people with the skills, attitude and potential to succeed. From operational and site-based positions to sales, technical, professional and management roles, you'll be comfortable recruiting across a broad range of disciplines and levels. This is a hands‑on role that requires regular site visits. You'll spend time with our teams, understand how each location operates and build strong relationships with hiring managers so you can match the right people to the right opportunities. Why join First Fence UK? You'll have the opportunity to build relationships across the business, take ownership of varied recruitment campaigns and make a visible contribution to the teams at our sites. We're looking for someone who enjoys getting out into the business, understanding what teams need and turning that knowledge into successful hires. Requirements Roles and Responsibilities Manage recruitment from start to finish.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Manage the full recruitment process, from taking the vacancy brief through to offer acceptance and handover for onboarding.
  • Work with managers to define role requirements, essential skills, salary expectations and recruitment timescales.
  • Write clear, engaging job adverts and accurate job descriptions.
  • Screen applications, conduct telephone interviews and coordinate or attend interviews.
  • Keep candidates informed throughout the process and provide a professional, positive experience.
Recruit across the whole business
  • Recruit for a broad range of roles, including yard and warehouse, transport and logistics, manufacturing and production, sales, customer service, administration, finance, HR, marketing, IT and management, as required.
  • Develop a practical understanding of each department, including its working environment, responsibilities and skills requirements.
  • Adapt sourcing and assessment methods to suit different roles and levels of seniority.
  • Identify when specialist input is needed to assess technical skills or qualifications.
Visit sites and build relationships
  • Visit First Fence UK sites regularly to understand local recruitment needs and challenges.
  • Build strong working relationships with site leaders, department managers and employees.
  • Understand shift patterns, working conditions, location requirements and the practical demands of each vacancy.
  • Site interviews, recruitment events and open days where needed.
  • Work with managers to anticipate future vacancies and plan recruitment activity.
Find and attract talent
  • Source candidates through job boards, LinkedIn, social media, referrals, local networks and direct approaches.
  • Build candidate pipelines for recurring and hard‑to‑fill vacancies.
  • Develop relationships with colleges, training providers and relevant local employment organisations.
  • Work with marketing and HR to promote First Fence UK as an employer.
  • Manage recruitment agencies where required, monitoring service, candidate quality and cost.
  • Attend job fairs, liaising with different organisations to grow business relations.
Maintain accurate records and improve results
  • Keep recruitment systems and candidate records accurate, up to date and confidential.
  • Follow company recruitment procedures, data protection requirements and fair selection practices.
  • Coordinate required pre‑employment checks with HR, including right‑to‑work checks and role‑specific requirements.
  • Track recruitment activity, time to hire, sourcing effectiveness and recruitment costs.
  • Gather feedback from hiring managers and new starters to improve recruitment and support early retention.
Experience
  • Experience in recruitment, either in‑house or within an agency, covering a broad range of job types.
  • The confidence to recruit for both operational and office‑based positions, at different levels of seniority.
  • A willingness to learn how each part of the business works and ask the questions needed to understand unfamiliar roles.
  • Strong interviewing, candidate assessment and relationship‑building skills.
  • A proactive approach to sourcing candidates, rather than relying solely on applications.
  • Excellent organisation, with the ability to manage several vacancies and competing priorities.
  • Clear communication skills and the confidence to advise and constructively challenge hiring managers.
  • Sound judgement, discretion and a commitment to fair, inclusive recruitment.
  • The ability and willingness to travel regularly between First Fence UK sites.
