Job summary

First Fence Limited is seeking a Buyer to join a fast-moving manufacturing environment. You will source products at the right price from reliable suppliers, manage stock levels, and drive cost efficiency across the purchasing cycle.

In this role, you will build strong supplier relationships, analyse data to forecast demand, and work with sales and operations to prevent shortages while ensuring timely delivery and quality compliance. Full UK driving licence is required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years’ experience in a Buyer, Purchasing or Procurement role.
• Experience in manufacturing, distribution or supply chain environments.
• Experience sourcing products internationally.
• Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems.
• Full UK driving licence.

Position

As a Buyer within a fast-moving manufacturing environment, you will be responsible for ensuring the right products are sourced at the right price, from the right suppliers, and delivered at the right time. You will play a key role in managing supplier relationships, controlling stock levels, and identifying opportunities to improve purchasing efficiency and cost performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Effective Communication: Communicate clearly and professionally with clients, acting as the first point of contact and building strong relationships.
• Product Sourcing: Source high-quality, competitively priced products and negotiate prices, lead times and commercial terms.
• Inventory Management: Work closely with sales, operations and planning teams to monitor demand, supplier lead times and potential shortages.
• Supply Chain Management: Maintain balanced stock levels, minimise excess inventory and improve supply chain efficiency.
• Purchasing: Manage the full purchasing cycle, from demand planning through to delivery.
• Planning: Analyse purchasing and usage data to support forecasting and stock planning.
• Risk Management: Identify alternative suppliers to minimise supply chain risks.
• Compliance: Maintain accurate purchasing records within the ERP/MRP system.
• Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve purchasing processes, reporting and systems.
• Analysis & Reporting: Monitor supplier pricing, stock levels, expenditure, performance and quality, identifying cost-saving opportunities and reporting findings to key stakeholders.

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a Buyer, Purchasing or Procurement role.
• Experience working within manufacturing, distribution or supply chain environments.
• Strong supplier management and negotiation skills.
• Experience managing stock levels and purchase orders.
• Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems.
• Strong organisational and analytical skills.
• Experience sourcing products internationally.
• CIPS Level 4 qualified or working towards qualification.
• Excellent attention to detail and time management skills.
• Confident communicator with suppliers and internal teams.
• Proactive approach to identifying and resolving supply chain challenges.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Full UK driving licence required.
