Job summary

First Fence Limited in Sutton-in-Ashfield is recruiting a permanent, full-time HGV Class 1 Driver to join our logistics team. The role involves multi-drop deliveries across the UK, loading and unloading cargo, and driving within tachograph and road regulations.

You will maintain the vehicle, communicate professionally with customers, and participate in essential driver training. A valid Class 1 licence, Driver CPC, and Tachograph card are required; 33 days leave and benefits are included.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid Class 1 HGV driving licence.
• Must hold a valid UK Driver CPC card.
• Must hold a valid UK Digital Tachograph Card.
• High levels of health and safety standards.
• Numerate and literate with good communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Experience of multi-drop deliveries.
• Experience in strapping loads.

Responsibilities

• Operate a large goods vehicle to transport goods safely and efficiently.
• Carry out loading and unloading in line with procedures.
• Complete daily vehicle inspections and basic maintenance checks.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and report any issues promptly.
• Deliver across the UK with professional communication with customers.
• Adhere to tachograph regulations and driver hours limits.
• Carry out multi-drop deliveries in a timely, safe manner.
• Liaise with Transport Coordinator for route and delivery instructions.

Position

HGV Class 1 Driver is responsible for operating a large goods vehicle to transport goods safely and efficiently, often undertaking multi-drop deliveries or longer distance haulage.

This role involves adhering to road regulations, loading and unloading cargo, and ensuring the vehicle is maintained in good condition.

How You'll Do It:

• Ensure the loading of your vehicle that products are safely loaded and secured to minimise chances of damage.
• Ensure that on arrival the delivery is safe to make and respect customer’s property; if in doubt, consult with customer and/or Transport Manager.
• Verify delivery instructions obtain signature using in house system.
• Communicate professionally with customers during pick-up and delivery
• Handle customer issues on delivery effectively and contact Transport coordinator for assistance if required.
• Carry out multi-drop deliveries in a timely and safe manner.
• Drive the vehicle safely and in accordance with the law.
• Drive within the tachograph law and driver hours limits.
• Look after the vehicle and ensure that it is not subjected to unnecessary damage.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the Vehicle.
• Ensure accidents are kept to a minimum.
• Report any accidents as soon as possible and in compliance with the company’s accident reporting procedure.
• Complete vehicle daily inspection using in house system
• Attend essential training in order to carry out the driver role.

Requirements
