Job description

Waythrough launched in October 2024 following the merger of Humankind and Richmond Fellowship. Our vision is to break down the barriers that stop people from getting the support they need to live a life they value. We tackle poverty and disadvantage in communities through mental health, drug and alcohol, housing, and related support.

We have almost 200 services across England and nearly 3,500 staff and volunteers who run them. Every year, our services support around 125,000 people.

Bringing together two large organizations is a complex task, and it will take time to fully integrate our systems, processes, and approaches. Currently, the jobs are still branded ‘Humankind’. Next year, we will fully integrate our recruitment systems, but for now, they remain separate.

Who are we…

Waythrough is one of England’s most successful home-grown charities. We provide free, confidential support for alcohol, drugs, housing, or mental health issues in friendly local places across the UK. We are committed to fair chances for all and ensuring everyone can access the help they need to realize their potential. By joining our passionate teams, you will contribute to making this happen. You can truly make a difference by believing in our service users and their capacity for positive change, even when they don’t always believe in themselves.

About the role…

An exciting opportunity has arisen for the position of Recovery Co-ordinator within our North Cumbria RSC Team.

Recovery Co-ordination is a diverse and rewarding role. Key duties include:

  1. Manage a caseload, devising, implementing, and reviewing ongoing recovery and treatment plans.
  2. Facilitate and promote individuals’ progression from engagement through structured treatment to self-sustained recovery.
  3. Reduce substance-related harm to individuals and the wider community.
  4. Work collaboratively with key partners and colleagues to achieve the best health and wellbeing outcomes for individuals.

About you…

You will have a passion for making a difference, with fair chances for all at the core of your values.

You will have an NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or above or equivalent) or be willing to work towards this in the role. You should have a strong understanding of and ability to implement interventions, including brief interventions, MI, PSIs, CBT, and ITEP, with experience in delivering 1-2-1 and group therapeutic interventions.

Who will you be working with…

You will be part of our North Cumbria RSC Team, a multidisciplinary recovery team comprising colleagues from diverse professional and personal backgrounds, including Recovery Coordinators, HOPE Workers, Medics, Housing and Criminal Justice workers, Individual Placement Specialists, and Volunteers. We are a supportive, welcoming team passionate about supporting recovery and our local community.

For an informal discussion about the position, please contact Team Leader Rebecca McGinley at rebecca.mcginley@recoverystepscumbria.org.uk or 01900 512300.

What can Waythrough offer you…
  • Generous annual leave entitlement (27 days plus bank holidays, increasing to 32 after 1 year’s service)
  • Annual leave purchase scheme
  • Enhanced occupational sick pay
  • Enhanced employer contribution to your workplace pension
  • Free Will writing
  • Blue light card discount
  • Excellent learning and development opportunities, including free training courses
  • Work-life balance with flexible working and family-friendly policies
  • Wellbeing initiatives such as Happy, Healthy You! and Employee Assistance Programme
  • Range of training opportunities, supervision, and personal development reviews

Waythrough is an equal opportunities employer. If you feel you align with our values and ethos and are passionate about supporting people, but lack some experience, talk to us about your transferable skills. We can provide development to help you realize your potential.

We welcome applications regardless of race, color, nationality, ethnicity, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, marital status, pregnancy, disability, or age.
