Job summary

Great Oaks Care Home is seeking a friendly, organised Receptionist to join the team on a part-time basis (22.5 hours per week). The role is a permanent position and provides a vital first point of contact for residents, visitors and staff, helping the home run smoothly and maintain high standards of care.

You will greet visitors, answer calls, manage diaries and assist with basic admin tasks, while adhering to safeguarding and confidentiality policies.

Receptionist - Part Time 22.5 hours per week

Welford Healthcare Ltd is seeking a friendly, organised Receptionist to join the team at Great Oaks Care Home. This part-time, permanent role provides an important first point of contact for residents, visitors and colleagues, helping the home run smoothly and supporting high standards of care.

Purpose of the role

To manage the reception area, provide a welcoming and professional welcome to everyone who visits or contacts the home, and to support administrative tasks that keep daily operations efficient and safe.

Key responsibilities
  • Greet visitors and residents courteously and manage sign-in/sign-out procedures.
  • Answer and direct telephone calls and take clear, accurate messages.
  • Manage incoming and outgoing mail and basic office filing.
  • Maintain appointment diaries and coordinate simple bookings or room bookings as required.
  • Handle enquiries from families and external professionals with discretion and professionalism.
  • Support administrative tasks such as photocopying, printing, data entry and maintaining reception supplies.
  • Follow relevant safeguarding, confidentiality and health & safety procedures.
Essential skills and experience
  • Previous reception, customer service or administrative experience.
  • Clear, polite verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good organisation, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing tasks.
  • Basic IT skills including email and common office software.
  • Ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
  • Friendly, patient manner and the ability to work as part of a team.
Desirable skills and experience
  • Experience working in a care setting, health or social care environment.
  • Familiarity with care home administration systems or electronic records.
  • Additional language skills to support diverse visitors or families.
Qualifications
  • Formal qualifications are not strictly required for all reception roles, but GCSEs or equivalent in English and maths, or a relevant administrative qualification, are useful.
What the organisation offers

This role is offered on a part-time, permanent basis. The pay for this position is GBP (£)12.71 to GBP (£)12.71 per Hour.
