Job summary

A leading healthcare provider is seeking a diligent Receptionist to join their team for 28 hours a week. Job description

We are looking for a receptionist to join our team for 28 hours a week:

The successful candidate will be required to be flexiblewith hours between 7am-8pm Monday to Friday to accommodate staff holidays etc.

The shift pattern will be:

Monday 7am - 1pm

Tuesday 2pm - 7pm

Thursday 8am -1pm

Friday 2pm- 7pm

The successful candidate will be responsible for undertakinga wide range of reception and administrative duties and the provision ofgeneral support to the multidisciplinary team.

Duties can include but are not limited to, greeting anddirecting patients, patient registration, booking appointments, processing ofinformation (electronic and hard copy) and assisting patients as required.

To act as the central point of contact for patients, thedistribution of information, messages and enquiries for the clinical team,liaising with multidisciplinary team members and external agencies such assecondary care and community service providers.

Main duties of the job

To support the practice clinical team by signposting patients tothe appropriate healthcare professional or service, working as part of thepractices multidisciplinary team.

The receptonist will also be expected to undertake receptionduties as part of the role, supporting the administrative team in delivering a polite and professional service to the entitled patient population.

Job responsibilities

Thefollowing are the core responsibilities of the Receptionist.There may be, onoccasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent onfactors such as workload and staffing levels:

  • a.Processand effectively signpost patients to the appropriate healthcare professionaldepending on the presenting condition
  • b.Answerincoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers requestsappropriately
  • c.Processpatient requests for appointments
  • e.Initiatecontact with and respond to requests from patients, team members and externalagencies
  • f.Enterread/SNOMED CT code data on EMIS Web
  • g.Photocopydocumentation as required
  • h.Dataentry of new and temporary registrations and relevant patient information asrequired
  • i.Inputdata into the patients healthcare records as necessary
  • j.Directrequests for information, e.g., SAR, insurance/solicitors letters and DVLAforms, to the administrative team
  • k.Manageall queries as necessary in an efficient manner
  • l.Maintaina clean, tidy, effective working area at all times
  • m.Monitorand maintain the reception area and noticeboards
  • n.Supportall clinical staff with general tasks as requested
  • o.Undertakeall mandatory training and induction programmes
Person Specification
Experience
  • Experience of working with the public
  • Experience of working in a healthcare setting
Qualifications
  • Educated to GCSE or equivalent
  • Active Signposting or Care Navigator Training Qualification
  • Healthcare Qualification (level 2) or working towards gaining equivalent level
