Job summary

Vetro Recruitment is seeking a dedicated Reception Teaching Assistant to join our Early Years/Year 1 team at a primary school in Eccleston, Cheshire. You will support high-quality teaching through play, phonics sessions, and early numeracy, while observing progress to inform next steps.

Applicants should have EYFS knowledge, experience in early years or KS1, and an enhanced DBS with safeguarding training. The role offers weekly pay and access to ongoing training opportunities.

• Knowledge of the EYFS Framework and Development Matters.
• Experience supporting children in early years or KS1 settings.
• Knowledge of supporting children with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN).
• Ability to promote the Characteristics of Effective Teaching and Learning through high-quality interactions.
• Evidence-informed practice and commitment to professional development.
• High expectations for every child and inclusive practice.
• Enhanced DBS check and safeguarding training.

Responsibilities

• Supporting teaching through purposeful play, adult-led learning, and continuous provision.
• Promoting communication and language development through interactions and vocabulary.
• Delivering phonics and early numeracy sessions.
• Observing, assessing and recording children’s progress for next steps.
• Supporting children with SLCN, SEND and other needs, adapting provision.
• Promoting independence, self-regulation and school readiness through routines.
• Creating an enabling learning environment reflecting children’s interests.
• Collaborating with families and external professionals to support development.
• Contributing to self-evaluation and continuous improvement.
