Job summary

Meersbrook Bank Primary School is seeking an Early Years teacher to deliver high-quality learning experiences for our youngest learners. The role focuses on EYFS practice, play-based exploration, parental partnership and safeguarding in a warm, nurturing environment.

You will plan and assess to support language, literacy and early numeracy, using a range of teaching approaches to engage children indoors and outdoors.

Qualifications

• Experience of teaching or working within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
• Experience of planning and delivering high-quality learning experiences for young children
• Experience of supporting children with a range of needs, including SEND
• Experience of working effectively with parents and carers
• Knowledge of the EYFS statutory framework
• Good understanding of child development and how young children learn through play, exploration and adult interaction
• Knowledge of effective approaches to teaching early reading, phonics, writing and mathematics in Reception
• Understanding of how to develop children's communication, language and vocabulary
• Understanding of effective assessment, recording and reporting arrangements in the Early Years
• Up-to-date safeguarding measures and needs of young children
• Understanding of balance between adult-led teaching, guided learning and child-initiated learning
• Outstanding classroom practitioner who creates a warm, nurturing environment
• Strong understanding of early literacy, phonics and mathematical understanding
• High expectations of learning, independence and behaviour
• Ability to identify and respond to individual children's needs including SEND
• Ability to use observation and assessment to adapt teaching
• Good organisational and time-management skills
