Job description

We are looking for a hard- working, self-motivated, dedicated and inspirational teacher to take an Early Years Foundation Stage Class for 2 days a week (Thursday & Friday).

This post is suitable for a newly qualified teacher or for a teacher with some previous experience of Early Years teaching. You must be a team player and have the ability to engage with, and communicate effectively with parents, children and staff. Above all else you must have a strong passion for teaching children in the Early Years phase, recognising that every child, regardless of background, can and must succeed.

Job Purpose

Provide high quality teaching and learning within the classroom

Maintain and develop programmes of work appropriate to the curriculum taught

Work with leaders to ensure balance and progression of work is well matched to the needs of all children

Monitor progress, achievement and successes of children and their learning

Develop high quality relationships with staff, parents, carers and children across the school

Support the school’s vision and ethos

To contribute to raising standards of achievement

To whom the post holder reports

The Headteacher in all matters

The relevant member of the school leadership team in respect of curriculum and pastoral matters

The post holder is also expected to interact on a professional level with colleagues in order to promote mutual understanding of the school curriculum with the explicit aim of improving teaching and learning across the school.

Duties and responsibilities specific to the post

Develop a stimulating and challenging learning environment which secures effective learning and assessment and provides high standards of achievement, behaviour and discipline.

To plan, assess and evaluate weekly learning activities and daily organisation

Ensure a wide range of appropriate, engaging, purposeful learning activities are organised – allowing time for preparation and upkeep of resources

Provide a stimulating environment with regularly and carefully planned displays to enhance children’s learning.

Use the school environment and local community to provide first hand experiences to develop key skills.

Create a safe, secure, calm and stable atmosphere conducive to the learning process.

Be responsible for pastoral care of children in the class, promoting self-discipline and good behaviour at all times, in accordance with school policies.

Take responsibility for the development and monitoring of the Early Years provision for your class, liaising appropriately with subject leaders, class teachers and leaders.

To assess and determine the stage of development of each child physically, emotionally, academically, socially and morally and to provide and organise learning activities and experiences designed to promote their further development and progress in all of these areas.
