Veritas Education are partnered with a highly regarded 1.5 entry primary school in Chorley, Lancashire, seeking an experienced Reception Teacher for a maternity cover starting September 2026. The school prides itself on a nurturing EYFS environment with a strong Early Years team.

As a Reception Teacher you will plan and deliver play-based learning across the EYFS, differentiate provision, track progress, and build positive relationships with pupils and families. QTS required.

Qualifications

• QualifiedTeacher Status (QTS) is essential.
• Recent experience in Early Years/Reception.
• Strong understanding of EYFS development and curriculum.
• Ability to deliver phonics sessions (e.g. Read Write Inc, Letters & Sounds).
• Excellent behaviour management and organisational skills.

Veritas Education are working in partnership with a highly regarded 1.5 entry Primary School in Chorley, Lancashire, seeking an experienced, creative, and passionate Reception Teacher for a maternity cover position starting September 2026.

• Location: Chorley, Lancashire
• Start Date: September 2026
• Contract: Full-time, maternity cover
• Pay: £160 - £240 per day (dependent on experience and pay scale)

The Role

The successful candidate will take full responsibility for a Reception class, delivering engaging and developmentally appropriate learning experiences in line with the EYFS framework.

You will be expected to:

• Plan, prepare and deliver creative, play-based learning opportunities across all areas of the EYFS curriculum
• Create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive classroom environment that supports all learners
• Track, assess, and monitor pupil progress using EYFS assessment frameworks
• Differentiate provision effectively to meet a wide range of abilities and developmental needs
• Build strong relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues to support each child's learning journey
• Contribute to the wider Early Years team and actively engage in school life

The Ideal Candidate Will

• Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Have recent and relevant experience teaching within Early Years / Reception
• Demonstrate a strong understanding of child development and the EYFS curriculum
• Be confident in delivering phonics (e.g. Read Write Inc, Letters & Sounds or similar)
• Have excellent behaviour management and organisational skills
• Be creative, flexible, and committed to delivering high-quality early education
• Be a positive team player with a proactive attitude
