Job summary

Amazon Data Services UK Limited is seeking a Software Development Engineer for the Data Center Builder Tools team in London. You will design and deliver real-time middleware and runtime components that connect distributed control applications across languages and hardware, bridging edge devices to AWS services.

The role emphasizes low-latency, deterministic performance, cross-language data exchange, and collaboration with hardware, controls, security, and operations teams to ship robust software

Qualifications

• Experience in professional, non-internship software development.
• Experience programming with Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design.
• Experience with full software development life cycle, coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.
• Experience designing or architecting new and existing systems.

Responsibilities

• Architect and implement runtime and real-time middleware with low latency and determinism.
• Build industrial protocol and hardware integrations, cross-language data exchange.
• Own edge-to-cloud telemetry, metrics, and command flow with QoS and store-and-forward behavior.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical direction of the runtime and middleware.
