Job summary

Avanti West Coast is seeking a Route Controller to be at the centre of our operations, making real-time decisions to keep our train services running smoothly for customers and colleagues. You’ll be the go-to person for operational communication, ensuring every move is safe, compliant, and customer-focused, while monitoring the financial impact of decisions.

The role involves working nights, shifts and weekends as part of a 24-hour control post.

Qualifications

• Good understanding of the rail industry and passenger train operations.
• Experience in using IT systems to manage train operations.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Be the go-to person for operational communication and real-time decisions.
• Ensure safety, compliance, and customer-focused actions in disruption.
• Collaborate with Resources to restore services quickly and effectively.
• Manage shifts including nights and weekends and monitor financial impact.
