Job summary

The Cambian Group is seeking a Registered Manager for a solo Children’s Home in Widnes. You will lead the care, education, social and health planning for young people, ensuring tailored care plans and strong team leadership. Your role includes safeguarding, stakeholder collaboration and ensuring compliance with Ofsted expectations.

You will develop a capable team, implement comprehensive care plans, and drive continuous improvement with a focus on safety and quality in care.

Qualifications

• 2 years in residential care of children, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role in the last 5 years.
• Knowledge of The Quality Standards, SCCIF, childcare legislation and regulatory requirements.
• Strong planning, budgeting and team leadership capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop Comprehensive Care Plans tailored to each child’s needs.
• Build and maintain a high-performing home team with effective induction and development plans.
• Consult with young people about care and involve them in decisions.
• Allocate Key Workers to implement care plans.
• Maintain high standards in line with Home’s Statement of Purpose.
• Handle complaints and safeguarding concerns promptly.
• Collaborate with parents, carers and professionals to promote welfare.
• Attend and contribute to care planning and review meetings.
• Foster a safe culture and manage the home in line with budget expectations.

What We Offer

As a Registered Manager our expectation is that your home will be rated as at least “Good” by Ofsted

This is a solo Children’s Home where you will:

• Develop Comprehensive Care Plans: Ensure each young person has a tailored plan that addresses their care, education, social, emotional, cultural, therapeutic, and health needs.
• Develop a great team: Working with the recruitment teams support, bring in the right people for your home to ensure your success. Complete company induction and personal development plans, retaining a strong team to ensure familiar faces for the young people.
• Foster Consultation: Develop systems to consult young people about the care they receive.
• Allocate Key Workers: Assign a Key Worker to each young person to implement their care plan.
• Maintain High Standards: Establish and monitor high-quality care standards in line with the quality standards and the Home’s Statement of Purpose.
• Handle Complaints and Concerns: Take responsibility for addressing any complaints or child protection concerns.
• Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work in partnership with parents, carers, and other professionals to promote the welfare of young people.
• Participate in Meetings: Attend and contribute to care planning and review meetings as appropriate.
• Embrace a safe culture: Ensure the children in your service are cared for at the best possible standard.
• Effective Commercial Management of your home: Ensure you manage your home aligned to budget expectations.

Essential Requirements and Experience

• Passionate about making the difference to the lives of young people in care.
• Relevant Experience: At least 2 years in a position related to residential care of children, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role within the last 5 years.
• Qualifications: Level 3 in Children’s Residential Care is essential. Level 5 in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare is preferred at point of application, if not then you must be enrolled on the Level 5 within 6 months of starting in post.
• Knowledge: Understanding of The Quality Standards, SCCIF, childcare legislation, and regulatory requirements.
• Skills: Efficient in; planning, organizing, budget control, resource allocation, and team leadership.
• Communication: Confidence in effective spoken and written communication.
