Luma Education Recruitment is working with a specialist education setting in Warwick, Warwickshire, seeking a passionate and resilient SEMH Teacher to join their team.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced teacher who is committed to supporting young people who may experience social, emotional and mental health needs, challenging behaviour, anxiety, disengagement or barriers to learning.
The successful candidate will be responsible for creating a structured, engaging and supportive learning environment where pupils feel safe, valued and able to achieve.
The Role
As an SEMH Teacher, you will:
- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons appropriate to individual pupil needs
- Teach pupils with a range of SEMH, behavioural and additional learning needs
- Establish clear routines, expectations and positive classroom boundaries
- Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils
- Adapt teaching strategies to support different learning styles and abilities
- Support pupils with emotional regulation and engagement in learning
- Monitor progress and contribute to individual learning and development plans
- Work closely with teaching assistants, pastoral staff and the wider school team
- Promote positive behaviour and encourage pupils to develop independence
- Create a calm, structured and inclusive classroom environment
- Maintain high expectations while recognising individual barriers to learning
About You
We are looking for a teacher who is:
- Experienced working with SEMH or challenging behaviour
- Qualified to teach, ideally holding QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
- Confident managing complex classroom dynamics
- Calm, patient and emotionally resilient
- Able to build positive relationships with pupils who may have struggled within mainstream education
- Adaptable and creative in their approach to teaching
- Confident differentiating work and responding to individual needs
- A strong communicator and collaborative team member
- Passionate about improving outcomes for young people
- Experience within SEMH schools, special schools, alternative provision, PRUs or specialist settings would be highly advantageous.
