Job summary

Sugarman Health and Wellbeing is recruiting a Care Assistant to support a young adult with Autism and learning disabilities in the family home and community. This 2:1 support package involves Monday to Friday day shifts, helping independence and safety while out and about in the community.

You’ll provide person-centred care, assist with activities, use communication aids, and follow care plans with full training and ongoing support from the team.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months' care experience.
• Full UK driving licence (essential).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

About the Role

Sugarman Health andWellbeing is seeking a support Workers to join a specialist 2:1 package supporting a young adult with Autism, Learning Disabilities, Dyspraxia, Epilepsy and sensory processing needs within the family home and community. This young adult enjoys spending time in the community, visiting coffee shops, swimming, walking, watching ice hockey, playing board games, creative writing and engaging in meaningful conversations with trusted support staff and family members.

You will play a key role in helping them achieve greater independence, access activities they enjoy, maintain their safety in the community and build confidence in daily life.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing person-centred support in both the family home and community settings.
• Supporting community access, social activities, appointments and leisure pursuits.
• Building positive and trusting relationships through a consistent approach.
• Supporting communication using an iPad, letter board and non-verbal communication methods.
• Promoting independence and encouraging participation in everyday activities.
• Supporting emotional regulation and implementing positive behaviour support strategies.
• Following epilepsy care plans and emergency medication protocols following training and competency sign-off.

Who We're Looking For
