Job summary

Sugarman Health & Wellbeing is recruiting a Support Worker in Altrincham to join a dedicated care team supporting a young man with autism.

You will be integral to his existing care package, promoting bespoke care in a structured, supportive environment with opportunities to develop skills in mental health support.

Qualifications

  • The enthusiasm to learn and willingness to embrace goals for the service user.
  • Ability to go above and beyond for the service user and staff.
  • Eligible to work in the UK and provide documents.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe environment for the user to build positive relationships and engage with the community.
  • Support at mealtimes and encourage a healthy lifestyle using positive language.
  • Prompt to take medication at scheduled times.
  • Assist and prompt with learning and education.
  • Maximise use of games and activities to promote good mental health.
  • Manage PTSD symptoms with calming/de‑escalation techniques learned in training.

Job description

Hourly Rate: £12.71 per hour (Enhanced hourly rate on all Bank Holidays)

Location: Altrincham

Shifts Available: 9 am-5 pm on weekdays

Speciality: Mental Health and Learning Disabilities

About the role

Here at Sugarman Health and Wellbeing we are currently recruiting a Support Worker for a young man with autism in the Altrincham area.

You would become an essential part of his existing care team in this fulfilling and exciting role. We are looking for someone who has an inspiring attitude to promote bespoke care.

Duties for this Support Worker role:
  • Maintain a safe environment for the user to build positive relationships with a view to going out into the community.
  • Supporting at mealtimes, using positive language to encourage a healthy lifestyle.
  • Prompting to take medication at scheduled times.
  • Assisting and prompting with learning and education.
  • Maximising the use of different games and activities to promote good mental health.
  • Managing PTSD symptoms and using calming and de-escalation techniques, which you will be trained in.
