Job summary

Sugarman Health and Wellbeing is recruiting a dedicated Support Worker for a York-based role supporting a dynamic young adult with complex needs. The role centres on enabling independence through daily living support, creative activities, and community engagement.

You will work 12-hour shifts, with a 3:1 staffing ratio, and participate in comprehensive clinical and theory training delivered by qualified nurses. Weekly pay, ongoing progression, and a supportive team environment are provided.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 6 months of hands-on professional care experience.
  • Must be fit and active enough to participate in daily hobbies and outdoor walks.
  • Full driving licence preferred, but not essential.
  • Valid Right to Work in the UK.
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Up-to-date CV with full work history.

Responsibilities

  • Creative & Recreational Activities: Engaging in arts, crafts and community outings.
  • Daily Living Support: Assisting with meals and personal care.
  • Medication & Safety: Assisting with medication management where trained.

About the Role

As a Support Worker,

you will assist with everyday tasks,

offer emotional encouragement,

and promote social inclusion,

empowering individuals to lead fulfilling lives at home and in the community.

We are currently building a dedicated team to support a dynamic young adult in York who lives with complex needs,

including Autism (PDA profile),

ADHD,

a Learning Disability,

and Tuberous Sclerosis.

To guarantee a secure and highly supportive environment,

we maintain a 3:

1 staffing ratio.

Our service user is energetic and exceptionally creative.

He loves arts and crafts-specifically designing and building structures out of cardboard boxes.

His other passions include aviation,

listening to music,

and spending time in local parks.

Weekly Pay:

Key Responsibilities

Creative & Recreational Activities:

Engaging in creative projects (arts,

crafts,

and cardboard construction) and facilitating community outings,

such as park visits and plane watching.

Daily Living Support:

Assisting with daily tasks,

including meal preparation,

and personal care.

Encouraging life skills development and supporting individuals to work towards personal goals.

building strong relationships,

and maintaining high engagement during 12-hour shifts.

Medication & Safety:

Assisting with medication management (when trained) while ensuring a safe,

respectful,

and person-centred environment.

Documentation:

Maintaining accurate records and promptly reporting any concerns to the care team.

Key Requirements

Experience:

Minimum 6 months of hands-on professional care experience.

Activity Level:

Driver Status:

Full driving licence preferred,
