Job summary

Skills 4 Pharmacy is hiring a Pharmacy Assistant Apprentice in Sunderland. You will support daily pharmacy operations, assist customers at the counter, and work closely with the team to ensure safe, efficient service while completing a Level 2 Pharmacy Services Assistant Apprenticeship.

Role involves stocking, handling prescriptions under supervision, and using pharmacy systems. Training is provided, with a typical working week from Monday to Friday 9am–6pm and Saturday 9am–1pm.

Qualifications

• GCSEs (A-C) or 4-9 in Maths and English; equivalent accepted.
• No prior pharmacy experience required; full training provided.
• Level 2 Pharmacy Services Assistant Apprenticeship offered alongside the role.

About the role

As a Pharmacy Assistant Apprentice, you will support the day‑to‑day running of the pharmacy, helping customers and working closely with the pharmacy team to ensure safe and efficient service.

You will complete a Level 2 Pharmacy Services Assistant Apprenticeship alongside your role, with full training and support provided.

• Supporting customers at the medicines counter and responding to queries
• Assisting with the preparation and supply of prescriptions (under supervision)
• Handling stock, deliveries and maintaining accurate records
• Using pharmacy systems to process prescriptions and sales
• Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, health & safety and confidentiality
• Working as part of a team to ensure excellent customer service

Qualifications Required

GCSEs at A-C or 4-9 or equivalent, in Maths and English desired but not essential as can be provided as part of the course.

For applicants without Maths and English Level 2 or equivalent qualifications, employment will be offered on condition of completing initial Maths and English tests to determine suitability for the course.

Training to be Provided

Pharmacy Services Assistant Level 2 (GCSE) and Functional Skills if required.

Future Prospects

This is an exciting role that will include engaging with customers and clients to provide prescription counter services, advice, housekeeping duties such as stock rotation and stock replenishment, helping to deliver a variety of public health services whilst gaining a pharmacy qualification.
