Job summary

NRL Ltd seeks experienced Civil General Operatives to support a major project at Steel. The temporary role suits those with civil engineering, groundworks or utilities backgrounds who will help deliver safe, efficient operations on site.

The position runs for 3–4 months with ASAP start. Responsibilities include preparing areas, assisting trades, manual handling, and maintaining safety and PPE on site. Driving licence is preferred.

Qualifications

• CSCS or CCNSG card is required or essential for site access.
• Experience in civil engineering, groundworks, utilities or general construction.
• Ability to work as part of a team and follow site instructions.
• Good physical fitness and strong awareness of site safety.
• Basic knowledge of construction tools, materials and processes.

Responsibilities

• Prepare work areas, clear debris, and assist with temporary works.
• Safely handle and store materials through manual handling or basic plant.
• Assist civil trades such as groundworkers, steel fixers and machine operators.
• Perform labouring tasks including digging, backfilling, and compacting.
• Follow HSE regulations, maintain PPE use, report hazards and uphold site safety.
• Operate small tools if trained, ensuring tools remain in good condition.
• Maintain tidy working areas and clear access routes.
• Carry out instructions from supervisors to ensure efficient workflow.
