Overview

Salary: Monday to Friday - £15.00 per hour // Weekends £18.75 per hour

Summary: We are looking for a hardworking and reliable General Operative to assist pipefitters and coded welders on a new-build industrial project. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the mechanical installation team, helping to ensure the safe, efficient, and timely completion of work.

Responsibilities
  • Assist pipefitters and welders with the installation of stainless steel and carbon steel pipework.
  • Move, handle, and position materials, fittings, and equipment around the site.
  • Prepare pipework and welding areas, including cleaning and basic setup tasks.
  • Use basic hand tools and power tools as directed.
  • Support with rigging, slinging, and safe manual handling of pipe spools and equipment.
  • Maintain site tidiness, manage waste disposal, and organise materials.
  • Perform basic measurements and mark-outs under supervision.
  • Follow site safety rules and ensure all tasks are carried out safely and responsibly.
  • Assist with basic fabrication tasks where required (e.g., cutting, grinding, prepping pipe ends).
  • Work closely with the site supervisors, pipefitters, and welders to meet project deadlines.
Qualifications
  • CSCS Card
  • Previous site experience in a construction or industrial environment preferred.
  • Basic mechanical or construction skills.
  • Familiarity with hand tools, grinders, and small plant equipment.
  • Good level of physical fitness for manual work.
