Job summary

Ceredigion County Council Direct Payment Support Service seeks a caring, reliable individual to support a 38-year-old woman with profound and complex needs in the Perth area. The role requires a driving licence to operate an automatic car, and full training will be provided for feeding and medication administration.

Responsibilities include assisting with daily activities, bathing and stoma care, and supporting social and community participation.

Job description

We are looking for a caring, reliable individual to support a happy and sociable 38-year-old woman with profound and complex needs. The Individual has a great sense of humour, a bright smile, and enjoys being with people she knows well. She loves Disney films, singing, and walking her dog, and enjoys both indoor and community-based activities.

This role requires a candidate with a driving licence to drive the supported persons automatic car.

The individual uses a hoist for transfers and a moulded wheelchair when out and about. She also uses an acheeva for in the house. She communicates using vocalisations, body language, hand gestures, and a communication app. With support, she is an active participant in conversation.

The individual is tube-fed via a jejunostomy and requires medication throughout the day and night. Full training in feeding and medication administration will be provided. She also requires full support with personal care, including bathing, stoma care, and changing her stoma bag.

The main duties include:

• Support into wider community i.e. clubs / groups
• Support with going out and about such as going for walk / accessible swing/ going for drives.
• Support with going shopping.
• Support with household duties such as doing laundry.
• Support with in house activities like baking/ arts and crafts/ reading.
• Support going to cinema/ theatre.
• Support to engage with family and friends.
