Job summary

Medacs Healthcare is actively recruiting locum Consultant Psychiatrists in Adult Mental Health for UK-wide opportunities. Roles are available as short term or longer placements across the NHS framework. The locum positions require GMC registration, Section 12/22 status where applicable, and a current DBS check.

UK right to work is essential. Locations include opportunities nationwide with flexible start dates and support from a dedicated recruitment consultant.

Qualifications

• MBBS or equivalent medical degree.
• Full GMC registration with a licence to practise.
• Section 12/Section 22 and Approved/Responsible Clinician status (or eligibility).
• A current DBS check or PVG check, or willingness to undergo one.

Responsibilities

• Conducting psychiatric assessments and reviews.
• Leading treatment planning and clinical decision‑making.
• Supporting junior medical staff and MDTs.

About the Role

As a locum Consultant Psychiatrist, you'll work within multidisciplinary teams to provide high-quality psychiatric care to adults with complex mental health needs. Your responsibilities may include:

• Conducting psychiatric assessments and reviews
• Leading treatment planning and clinical decision-making
• Supporting junior medical staff and MDTs
• Liaising with community services and external partners

What We're Looking For

• MBBS or equivalent medical degree
• Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
• Section 12/Section 22 and Approved/Responsible Clinician status (or eligibility)
• A current Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check or PVG check - or a willingness to undergo one as part of the registration process
• Experience in adult mental health settings
• UK Right to Work
• A flexible, collaborative, and patient-focused approach
• CCT in General Adult Psychiatry
