Job summary

Gov Facility Services Limited seeks a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to maintain steam and high-temperature hot water (HTHW) systems at HMP The Mount, Hemel Hempstead. The role is full-time and permanent, focusing on safe operation and reliability of boiler and plant rooms within the prison environment.

You will join a multidisciplinary facilities team and contribute to rehabilitation and secure operations.

Qualifications

  • Two years' experience as a steam boiler operator or equivalent.
  • Familiar with Water Supply Regulation and Legionella L8 requirements.
  • Familiar with BG01 - safe operation of boilers.
  • Experience on commercial or industrial steam, heating and water systems.
  • Plumber qualifications per C&G 6035, C&G 6189 and NVQ level 3 in Plumbing or equivalent.
  • BOAS accredited boiler operator course or equivalent.
  • Good Health & Safety knowledge.
  • Excellent organisational, time management and people skills.

Job Role: Mechanical Maintenance Engineer (Steam & HTHW)

Location: HMP The Mount- Molyneaux Avenue, Hemel Hempstead HP3 0NZ

Salary: £44,688.51 to £48,412.56 per annum

Contract: Full time/Permanent

We are seeking a dedicated Engineer - Mechanical Maintenance Engineer (Steam & HTHW) to join our team at HMP The Mount, a category C & adult/male prison.

We are a Ministry of Justice business and provide critical and time-bound services to HMPPS, and are looking for a Engineer - Mech/Steam/HTHW with any combination of:

  • Two years' experience working in a role as a steam boiler operator or equivalent
  • Must be familiar with and able to work to Water Supply Regulation and Control of Legionella L8 requirements
  • Must be familiar with and able to work to BG01 - safe operation of boilers
  • Experience working on commercial or industrial steam, heating and water systems
  • Plumber qualified to C&G 6035 (Plumbing), C&G 6189 (Plumbing and heating) and NVQ level 3 in Plumbing or equivalent
  • BOAS accredited boiler operator course or equivalent
  • Good Health & Safety knowledge.
