Job summary

Gov Facilities Services Limited seeks a Mechanical Supervisor at HMP Guys Marsh to lead a multi-skilled maintenance team of plumbers, electricians, carpenters and cleaners in a secure environment.

Working Monday to Friday, 39 hours with on-call after 6 months, you will ensure safe, compliant mechanical services, manage priorities, and drive continuous improvement in facilities management within a Category C prison.

Qualifications

• Five years' experience in FM/secure environments preferred.
• Experience with commercial/industrial heating and water systems.
• Familiar with Water Supply Regulations and Legionella L8.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a multi-trade mechanical team (plumbers, electricians, carpenters, etc.).
• Ensure safe, compliant operation of mechanical services in a prison setting.
• Plan, prioritise and deliver maintenance projects with a focus on security and continuity.

We are seeking a dedicated Mechanical Supervisor to join our team at HMP Guys Marsh, a Category C, male prison.

We are a Ministry of Justice business and provide critical and time-bound services to HMPPS, and are looking for a Supervisor with one of the following NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualifications and combination of skills:

• BPEC Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Domestic Plumbing and Heating
• City & Guilds 6189 - Plumbing and Domestic Heating
• City & Guilds 6032 - Advanced Craft Certificate in Plumbing
• City & Guilds 5962 - Certificate in Plumbing (Advanced Craft)
• City & Guilds 6019 - Mechanical Engineering Services (Plumbing)
• City & Guilds 6288‑31 - Heating and Ventilating Craftsperson (Industrial & Commercial)
• ETA Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Engineering Maintenance
• City & Guilds 6188 - Heating and Ventilating
• City & Guilds 6088 - Certificate in Heating and Ventilating
• City & Guilds 6018 - Heating and Ventilation Installation
• City & Guilds 214 - Engineering Systems Maintenance
• A minimum of five years' experience, ideally within an FM environment and/ or secure environment, military, health or similar sectors.
• Experience working on commercial or industrial heating, water or building service systems.
• Familiar with, and ability to, work to Water Supply Regulation and Control of Legionella L8 requirements.
• Good Health & Safety knowledge.
• Excellent organisational, time management and people skills.
• A rounded knowledge of risk and compliance and demonstrable planning & project management skills.

Future Plans.

GFSL has been notified by it's shareholder (MOJ) that the provision of FM Services will in future be delivered by the private sector. This means that following a successful procurement process, GFSL's services will complete transfer to a private sector provider/providers no sooner than August 2027.
