Gov Facilities Services Limited (GFSL) invites applications for an Engineer - Mechanical Maintenance (Steam & HTHW) at HMP The Mount. The role supports a security-focused, safe environment and works with plumbers, electricians, and other trades within the prison’s facilities team.

You will operate and maintain steam and hot water systems, ensure regulatory compliance, and contribute to safe, reliable plant operation aligned with prison requirements.

Qualifications

• Two years' experience as a steam boiler operator or equivalent.
• Familiar with Water Supply Regulation and Legionella L8 requirements.
• Familiar with BG01 - safe operation of boilers.
• Experience on commercial/industrial steam, heating and water systems.
• Plumber qualifications: C&G 6035, C&G 6189 and NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing or equivalent.
• BOAS accredited boiler operator course or equivalent.
• Good Health & Safety knowledge.

Job description

We are seeking a dedicated Engineer - Mechanical Maintenance Engineer (Steam & HTHW) to join our team at HMP The Mount, a category C & adult/male prison.

As an Engineer - Mech/Steam/HTHW , you will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced and passionate colleagues who vary from Plumbers, Electricians, Carpenters, Painters, to Cleaners, and Administrators, and others, who are all dedicated to making a positive difference, providing a safe and secure environment for all.

We are a Ministry of Justice business and provide critical and time-bound services to HMPPS, and are looking for a Engineer - Mech/Steam/HTHW with any combination of:

• Two years' experience working in a role as a steam boiler operator or equivalent
• Must be familiar with and able to work to Water Supply Regulation and Control of Legionella L8 requirements
• Must be familiar with and able to work to BG01 - safe operation of boilers
• Experience working on commercial or industrial steam, heating and water systems
• Plumber qualified to C&G 6035 (Plumbing), C&G 6189 (Plumbing and heating) and NVQ level 3 in Plumbing or equivalent
• BOAS accredited boiler operator course or equivalent
• Good Health & Safety knowledge.
• Excellent organisational, time management and people skills.
