Job summary

Government Facility Services Ltd is recruiting a Mechanical Engineer (Plumber) for HMP Winchester on a permanent, Monday to Friday basis. The role requires NVQ/City & Guilds Level 3 plumbing qualifications and experience with commercial or industrial heating, water or building service systems.

The salary is £48,188.51 per year including a £3,500 location bonus, with 25 days of holidays plus bank holidays and a comprehensive benefits package. Overtime and on-call payments may apply.

Qualifications

• NVQ or City & Guilds Level 3 Mechanical Engineer (Plumber)
• Experience working on commercial or industrial heating, water or building service systems
• Familiar with Water supply regulation and Legionella L8 requirements
• Two years' experience as a plumber or equivalent
• L8 awareness training desirable

Responsibilities

• Join the Facilities Maintenance Team at HMP Winchester as a Mechanical Engineer (Plumber).
• Work Monday to Friday, 39 hours per week, with potential for overtime and on-call payments.

C&G 6189 Plumbing and domestic heating

C&G 5962 certificate in Plumbing (Advanced craft)

C&G 6019 Mechanical Engineering services (plumbing)

C&G 6018 heating and ventilation installation

C&G 214 Engineering systems maintenance

C&G 6188 Heating and ventilating

C&G 6088 certificate in heating and ventilating

C&G 6032 the advanced craft certificate in plumbing

EAL Diploma in Plumbing and Heating

Experience working on commercial or industrial heating, water or building service systems

Unvented water heater vessel course G3 - Highly desirable

Two years' experience working in a role as a plumber or equivalent

Be familiar with and able to work to Water supply regulation and Control of Legionella L8 requirements

Good working knowledge of planned preventive maintenance operations

Good working knowledge of relevant health and safety requirements

L8 awareness training - Desirable (Provided if required)

Location: HMP Winchester, Romsey Rd, Winchester SO22 5DF

Salary: £48,188.51 per annum (includes £3,500 per annum location bonus)

Overtime and on-call additional payments also available

Contract: Permanent, Monday to Friday, 39 hours per week

We are seeking an NVQ or City & Guilds Level 3 qualified Mechanical Engineer (Plumber) to join our team at HMP Winchester, a category B local, adult male prison.

Future Plans

GFSL has been notified by its shareholder (MOJ) that the provision of FM services will in future be delivered by the private sector. This means that following a successful procurement process, GFSL's services will complete transfer to a private sector provider/providers no sooner than August 2027.
