Qualifications

  • GCSEs at A-C (9-4) in Maths and English are desirable, but not essential as training can be provided.
  • No previous pharmacy experience is required; full training is provided.
  • Apprentices will study for the Pharmacy Services Assistant Level 2 alongside the role.

Job description

About the role

As a Pharmacy Assistant Apprentice, you will support the day‑to‑day running of the pharmacy, helping customers and working closely with the pharmacy team to ensure safe and efficient service.

You will complete a Level 2 Pharmacy Services Assistant Apprenticeship alongside your role, with full training and support provided.

Supporting customers at the medicines counter and responding to queries

Assisting with the preparation and supply of prescriptions (under supervision)

Handling stock, deliveries and maintaining accurate records

Using pharmacy systems to process prescriptions and sales

Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, health & safety and confidentiality

Working as part of a team to ensure excellent customer service

What we’re looking for:

Basic IT skills

No previous pharmacy experience is required full training is provided.

Duration: Typically 15 months

Training delivered alongside your job through blended learning

Apprentices must be able to commit to contracted working hours and guided learning hours

Working Week

42.5hours per week (Monday-Friday 0830-1800 60 mins unpaid lunchbreak) plus every other Saturday morning 0900-1200 (these 3 hours would be given back in the week). 15-month fixed term contract

Qualifications Required

GCSEs at A-C or 4-9 or equivalent, in Maths and English desired but not essential as can be provided as part of the course.

For applicants without Maths and English Level 2 or equivalent qualifications, employment will be offered on condition of completing initial Maths and English tests to determine suitability for the course.

Future Prospects

This is an exciting role that will include engaging with customers and clients to provide prescription counter services, advice, housekeeping duties such as stock rotation and stock replenishment, helping to deliver a variety of public health services whilst gaining a pharmacy qualification.
