Job summary

Westray Recruitment Consultants is seeking a Production Operative for our manufacturing client in Cramlington. You will join an established production team, producing, assembling and packaging mechanical and electrical goods, with a hands-on role and a focus on quality and safety.

Working with a supportive team, you will follow procedures, use handheld tools, perform soldering, test finished products and help maintain daily targets while upholding high standards of workmanship.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in production/manufacturing is preferred.
• Hands-on approach with the ability to follow procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assemble electrical goods and components following procedures.
• Perform hand assembly using handheld tools.
• Hand soldering of through-hole components per BOM.
• Test finished products for quality and function.
• Operate machinery and metal press equipment when required.
• Collaborate with colleagues on production lines to hit daily targets.
• Complete production documentation and quality checks.
• Adhere to health and safety guidelines and uphold quality standards.

Due to continued demand and the needs of their manufacturing operation in Cramlington, they are looking to appoint a Production Operative to join their established production team.

The Role

As a Production Operative, you will support the manufacturing process by producing, assembling and packaging mechanical and electrical goods.

Working as part of a team and under supervision, your responsibilities will include:

• Assembling electrical goods and components in line with required procedures
• Carrying out hand assembly using handheld tools
• Performing hand soldering of through-hole components in accordance with the bill of materials
• Testing finished products
• Operating machinery, including metal press equipment where required
• Working closely with colleagues on production lines to achieve daily targets
• Carrying out quality checks on completed goods
• Completing relevant production and work documentation
• Following all health and safety procedures and guidelines
• Maintaining high standards of quality and attention to detail
• Supporting colleagues and contributing positively to the production team
• Following company values, procedures and standards at all times

The Person

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• Previous experience within a production or manufacturing environment
• A practical, hands-on approach to work
• The ability to work effectively as part of a team
• A willingness to help and support colleagues
• The ability to listen to instructions and follow processes step-by-step
• A methodical approach to completing tasks
• The ability to work efficiently and at pace to meet production targets

• No specific qualifications or educational background are required

Previous experience in assembly, soldering, PCB work, machinery operation or a similar manufacturing environment would be advantageous.
