Job summary

Randstad CPE is assisting a major Tier 1 contractor to recruit a Quantity Surveyor for an infrastructure division, supporting a £300m highways project in South West England. You will manage subcontract packages, cost plans, CVRs and compensation events to maximise value and profit.

The role requires highways/high Civils experience, strong IT skills (Excel, Word, CEMAR, Oracle) and professional qualifications such as MCIOB or MRICS (Desirable). CSCS is preferred.

Qualifications

• Relevant degree and/or experience in Commercial/Quantity Surveying.
• Professional qualification such as MCIOB or MRICS (Desirable).
• CSCS card held.
• Experience in highways/high Civils required.

Responsibilities

• Promote site safety and safe working environment.
• Produce Subcontract documentation including terms, prices and programme.
• Manage subcontract works packages, interim assessments and change control.
• Issue commercial notices to the client and Subcontractors as required by contract.
• Submit monthly applications in line with contract requirements.
• Maintain site records and liaise with operations/engineering staff.
• Prepare and maintain detailed CVRs and cost plans.
• Interpret expenditure reports and cost analyses.
• Attend weekly progress and risk reduction meetings with client and subcontractors.
• Support estimating and bid teams with contractual input.

A Major Tier 1 contractor are looking to expand their team with a Quantity Surveyor in the Infrastructure division, supporting the successful delivery of their new £300m highways project in South West Engalnd. Scope of works include enabling earthworks, widening to the existing road, new link road and various structures.

What will you be doing:

• Participate in creating a safe working environment.
• Produce Subcontract documentation including negotiation of terms and conditions, prices, and programme.
• Management of subcontract works packages including, interim assessments of the amount due and subsequent change management.
• Produce and issue all commercial notices, to both the Client and Subcontractors, as required by the form of contract.
• Manage change in a timely manner in accordance with the form of contract, including the production and submission of Compensation Event Quotations.
• Produce, submit, and agree monthly applications, to the Client, in accordance with the form of contract.
• Liaise with operational and engineering staff to ensure site records are kept to the standard required.
• Produce detailed monthly reports and Cost Value Reconciliation's (CVR) as required by the business unit or project.
• Produce and maintain a detailed 'Cost Plan', tracking and forecasting expenditure, including detailed schedules of Subcontractor 'liabilities' and use of Oracle based cost analyses.
• Interpret and critically evaluate expenditure reports produced by internal cost systems.
• Attending weekly progress and risk reduction meetings with the client and subcontractors.
• Apply the principles of 'Doing the right thing' in maximising value and profit.
• Be available to assist estimating and bid teams with contractual expertise.

About you:

• Good appreciation of standard forms of contract.
• Exposure on Highways / Heavy Civils projects
• Strong IT skills including Excel, Word & Contractual and Cost Management Systems (CEMAR, Oracle).
• Strong stakeholder management andcommunication capabilities.
• Solid knowledge of construction processes.
• First class time and outcome management skills.
• Professional qualification such as MCIOB or MRICS,ideally Incorporated member, working towards full membership (Desirable).
• Relevant degree and/or experience of working in a relevant Commercial environment.
• CSCS appropriate.
