Job summary

Randstad Construction and Property is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor for a fast-paced civil engineering project in Grays (RM16). You will oversee packages independently, support the Commercial Manager, and bridge the gap between junior and senior teams on site.

Responsibilities include producing financial reporting, managing subcontract procurement, cost control, and cashflow forecasting. Must hold a full driving licence and be competent with the Seymour system.

Are you a highly capable commercial professional looking to make an immediate impact on a fast-paced project that is picking up speed quickly? We are partnering with a leading international infrastructure group who are leading the transformation of our industry to meet the challenges of the future to recruit a driven Senior Quantity Surveyor. With a multitude of new packages kicking off soon, our client needs a strong candidate who can step in, assist the wider team, and oversee packages independently without needing too much hands- on help. This role is perfectly positioned to bridge the gap between the junior and senior teams on site.

Role Highlights

• Location: Grays, RM16
• Hours: 8.5-hour workday, Mon to Fri
• Rate: £550 per day (umbrella rate)
• Contract: Immediate start running until 31/12/2026, with the potential for extension.

Key Responsibilities

• Support project development and delivery by providing contractual and commercial advice to the project team in conjunction with the Commercial Manager.
• Ensure all contract requirements related to the project are complied with in full.
• Produce financial reporting related to schemes to the required standard and timetable.
• Manage subcontract procurement and administration, ensuring timely instructions are issued with appropriate governance and the supply chain is paid in accordance with contractual arrangements.
• Effectively manage supply chain variations, risk, and cashflow forecasting.
• Produce early warnings and compensation events in accordance with contract requirements.
• Ensure effective control of costs across all activities and deliver weekly reporting.
• Liaise effectively within the team, with other teams, and with the supply chain.

Candidate Requirements

• Essential experience in civil engineering construction, while specific experience in the highways sector is highly desirable.
• Must be computer literate and comfortable using the Seymour management system.
• Must hold a full driving licence.
