Job summary

Clarence House Day Nurseries Ltd is seeking a Painter and Decorator to carry out redecoration across our nursery settings, travelling between sites in the UK. The role requires a full UK driving licence and a willingness to work 40 hours per week, with flexi hours over weekends and evenings.

• Follow schedules set by the Operations Manager and flag additional works.
• Work flexibly, including evenings and weekends where needed, to minimise disruption.
• Work safely around children and staff at all times.

Job description

Clarence House Day Nurseries is a nursery group with 18 locations in East Anglia and the East Midlands.

We’re looking for a Painter and Decorator to carry out redecoration works across our nursery settings, working under the direction of our Operations Manager. Work includes scheduled redecoration (roughly every two years per setting), newly acquired nurseries, and other jobs as they arise.

You’ll be travelling across all our sites, so a full UK driving licence is essential.

You will be working 40 hours a week; this can include flexi hours over weekends and evenings.

Your rate of pay will be £17/ hour.

What you’ll be doing:

• Preparing surfaces (filling, sanding, cleaning, priming) and applying paint and decorative finishes to a high standard;
• Protecting furniture, fixtures and work areas during jobs;
• Keeping work areas clean, tidy and safe throughout;
• Following schedules set by the Operations Manager and flagging any further works needed;
• Working flexibly, including evenings and weekends where needed, to minimise disruption to nurseries;
• Working safely around children and staff at all times.

What you’ll need:

• 1–2 years’ experience as a Painter and Decorator or similar;
• Good practical knowledge of decorating techniques and surface preparation;
• Ability to work independently, to a high standard and to deadlines;
• Full UK driving licence;
• Experience working within occupied buildings is an advantage.

As this role involves working in a nursery setting, it is therefore subject to an Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check. Any offer of employment will be conditional on receipt of a satisfactory check. The cost of this check will be covered by us.
