Job summary

Ceredigion County Council Direct Payment Support Service is seeking a friendly Support Worker to spend time with a lively, active 10-year-old boy. The role centers on companionship, play and helping him stay occupied, including simple meal preparation and light tidy tasks.

Hours are flexible and include up to 7 hours per week on weekends during term time, plus about 12 hours in school holidays. Some driving may be required, with mileage reimbursed at 45p per mile.

Qualifications

• Enthusiastic, patient, and able to use initiative.
• Good communication, calm approach, and patience with speech differences.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the child with active play and outings.
• Playing games and activities at home.
• Encouraging independence and life skills.
• Occasionally helping with light household tasks (e.g., hoovering, wiping surfaces).
• Occasional driving may be required with mileage reimbursed at 45p per mile.
