Job summary

Surrey Independent Living Charity is seeking a friendly Support Worker to provide companionship and engage in play with a lively 10-year-old boy. The role focuses on building social interaction and keeping him occupied through activities at home and during outings.

Ideal candidates are patient, enthusiastic, and able to use their initiative. Some light household tasks and occasional driving may be required; support is provided for travel and memberships within the charity network.

Qualifications

• Experience with SEN is preferred but not essential.
• Patience and good communication are important.
• Flexible, enthusiastic, and proactive.
• Ability to work in a family home with a pet cats.

Responsibilities

• Spend time with a 10-year-old boy, focusing on companionship and play.
• Encourage independence and practice life skills.
• Assist with light household tasks as needed.
• Occasional driving may be required (mileage reimbursed).
• Support outings and activities away from home.
• Help with meal preparation and cleaning up afterward.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, easy-going Support Worker to spend time with a fun-loving and active 10-year-old boy with a great sense of humour. This role is focused on companionship, play, and helping him stay occupied. It might include helping him prepare a meal and cleaning up.,

• Supporting him with active play and outings
• Playing games and engaging in activities at home
• Encouraging independence and carrying out life skills
• Occasionally helping with light household tasks (such as hoovering or wiping down the kitchen) if he is resting or watching his tablet
• Occasional driving may be required to take him further afield (reimbursed at standard 45p per mile)
• Enthusiastic, relaxed, and confident using your initiative
• Patient and encouraging, especially with communication
• Personal or professional experience with SEN is preferred, but not essential
• Happy to work in a family home with two cats
• Up to 7 hours per week Saturday or Sunday during term time, couple hours after school.
• During school holidays, approximately 12 hours per week, very flexible (discussion welcome)
