Job summary

Serco Limited in Aberystwyth is seeking a Specialist Progression Coach to support unemployed participants with long-term health conditions, disabilities, or mental health challenges. You’ll deliver person-centred coaching, develop employability plans, and help individuals rebuild confidence to move toward sustainable work.

This field-based role is a 15-month fixed-term contract offering hybrid working, opportunities for development, and a chance to create meaningful impact in local communities

Location: Aberystwyth covering Porthmadog, Bala, Llangollen, Llanidloes and Newtown Field-based role with remote and on site working Salary: £31,000 to £32,000 plus excellent benefits Schedule: Fixed Term Contract 15-months, Full-time, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm (37.5 hours per week)

As a Specialist Progression Coach in our Confident Futures team, you’ll support unemployed participants with long-term health conditions, mental health conditions, or disabilities to overcome barriers to employment and move towards sustainable work. Through personalised coaching and tailored support, you’ll help people rebuild confidence, develop employability skills, and take positive steps towards a brighter future.

What you’ll do as a Specialist Progression Coach

• Manage a caseload of participants, providing tailored coaching and support throughout their employment journey.
• Complete holistic needs assessments and develop personalised action plans that reflect individual goals, circumstances, and support needs.
• Identify barriers to employment and connect participants with appropriate health, wellbeing, training, community, and specialist support services.
• Deliver one-to-one employability coaching, including CV support, job searching, interview preparation, and confidence-building activities.
• Build relationships with local employers to identify inclusive employment opportunities and support participants into suitable roles.
• Promote positive health and wellbeing outcomes while ensuring services is delivered in line with contract requirements and quality standards.

Does this sound like you?

• You have experience coaching, motivating, or supporting individuals to achieve positive outcomes.
• You understand the challenges faced by people with disabilities, long-term health conditions, or mental health conditions when seeking employment.
• You can build trust quickly and develop effective relationships with participants, employers, colleagues, and external partners.
• You’re highly organised, able to manage a varied caseload, prioritise effectively, and work independently when needed.
• You have strong communication skills and a genuine passion for helping people grow, gain confidence, and achieve sustainable employment outcomes.
• Full UK Driving Licence and own vehicle.

Vetting and checks

An Enhanced DBS check is required for this role. This includes spent and unspent convictions, cautions, and any relevant information held by local police, in accordance with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and safeguarding requirements. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire to allow us to provide any support needed for you to succeed in the role.
