Job summary

Xtrac Ltd, a world‑leading motorsport transmission specialist, is seeking an operator to set, run and monitor Ratio Turning Machine Centres to produce transmission components to our exacting GD&T standards.

You'll work in a cellular cell, interpreting engineering drawings, performing in-process inspection with handheld and electronic equipment, and recording data in internal systems while collaborating with the Team Lead to resolve production issues and drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Understand and interpret engineering drawings
  • Inspect visually and dimensionally using a variety of handheld & electronic measuring equipment
  • Completing all necessary process documentation, packing in appropriate packaging and relocating to the next operation
  • Record setting and production times using our inhouse systems
  • Continuously improve & optimise processes to increase value add functions
  • Adhering to Health and Safety regulations
  • Carrying out any additional duties as requested by management
  • Knowledge of general tool pathways & ISO Fanuc G-codes is essential, while experience with macros and probing programming would be advantageous

  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised working environment in line with health and safety standards
  • Understand and interpret engineering drawings

  • Record setting and production times using our inhouse systems
  • Continuously improve & optimise processes to increase value add functions
  • Adhering to Health and Safety regulations
  • Carrying out any additional duties as requested by management
  • Setting, operating and monitoring Ratio Turning Machine Centres to produce transmission components to specification
  • Record setting and production times using our inhouse systems
  • Proactively prepare work load and set up machines using the correct tooling and fixtures in line with job requirements
  • Interpreting engineering drawings and ensuring components meet strict GD&T requirements
  • Carrying out in-process inspection using handheld and electronic measuring equipment
  • Packaging finished components correctly and moving them to the next stage of the process
  • Working across multiple machines within the cell (e.g. Turning, Hobbing, Milling, Grinding, Laser Etching) as required
  • Collaborating closely with team members within the cell, sharing knowledge and supporting daily production activities
  • Communicating effectively with the Team Lead to escalate and resolve any issues or constraints
  • Contributing to continuous improvement activities to optimise processes and increase efficiency in line with the business performance goals.

About the Role

You will be responsible for setting, operating and running Ratio Turning Machine Centres to produce transmission components in line with company quality standards. This role requires a high level of attention to detail and a strong understanding of machine setup methodologies. You will be working on highly complex components, ensuring strict adherence to GD&T requirements.

Knowledge of general tool pathways & ISO Fanuc G-codes is essential, while experience with macros and probing programming would be advantageous.

You will operate within a cellular manufacturing environment, where strong communication skills are key. You will be expected to actively engage with colleagues within the cell, sharing knowledge, supporting one another and collaborating to drive continuous improvement. Close working relationships with the Team Lead will be important in identifying and resolving any production issues or constraints efficiently.

The role also requires completion of Quality Control Plans and associated documentation to support our high-quality standards, alongside strict adherence to health and safety policies and Xtrac’s PACEY values (Passionate, Accountable, Collaborative, Externally Focused, Yearns to Learn).
