Job summary

Carrington West is seeking a Project Manager to lead the engineering coordination on major railway infrastructure programmes in Birmingham. The role blends civil engineering with railway systems, requiring a strong technical background in systems integration and the ability to manage multidisciplinary interfaces to support successful project delivery.

Qualifications

• Minimum four years of project management or engineering coordination experience.
• Experience on major railway infrastructure projects.
• Strong technical understanding of railway engineering, including the integration of civil engineering works with railway systems.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering activities across design and construction interfaces.
• Ability to manage day-to-day engineering activities, establish priorities and ensure work progresses in line with programme requirements.
• Understanding of NEC contract principles and management of contractual interfaces.
• Experience working with project programmes, coordinating engineering activities against delivery milestones and reporting progress to senior management.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across engineering disciplines.
• A proactive, self-starting approach and ownership of technical challenges.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate engineering activities across design and construction interfaces to ensure seamless integration.
• Manage day-to-day activities and align work with the programme milestones.
• Collaborate with engineers, planners and project leadership to resolve technical issues.
• Report progress and risks to senior management and stakeholders.
• Maintain strong communication across civil, track, signalling and electrical interfaces.
