Job summary

Morson Human Resources Limited is recruiting for a Lead Project Engineer – Rail Systems in Birmingham, offering hybrid working. You will lead engineering and technical assurance across multidisciplinary railway projects, ensuring safe integration and delivery to programme requirements.

Qualifications

  • Significant experience within rail systems or major infrastructure engineering.
  • Experience delivering technical assurance and managing engineering interfaces.
  • Strong understanding of UK engineering standards and CDM Regulations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • The ability to influence stakeholders and communicate technical information clearly.
  • Experience balancing engineering, programme, cost and delivery priorities.
  • Chartered Engineer status (or equivalent) with a recognised professional institution.

  • Help ensure successful transition from design and construction through to testing, commissioning and operational handover.

Lead Project Engineer – Rail Systems

Location: Birmingham Hybrid Working

Are you an experienced Rail Systems Engineer looking to influence one of the UK's most complex infrastructure programmes?

We're seeking talented Lead Project Engineers to join our client's Technical Services team, where you'll play a pivotal role in integrating and assuring the safe delivery of critical railway systems across a nationally significant programme.

This is an opportunity to work at the heart of a multidisciplinary engineering environment, collaborating with experts across design, construction and delivery to solve complex technical challenges and help create a world-class railway.

Opportunities Across Multiple Disciplines
  • Track & Infrastructure Integration – Track, Slab Track, Switches & Crossings (S&C), Rail Systems Integration
  • Communications, Control & Signalling (CCS) – Telecoms, CCS, Operational Communications, WWH and related systems
  • Mechanical, Electrical, Power & OCS – M&E, High Voltage Power, Overhead Catenary Systems and Tunnel Systems
The Role

As a Lead Project Engineer, you'll provide technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring railway systems are integrated, assured and delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with industry standards.

You'll work closely with project teams, contractors and technical specialists, helping to resolve engineering challenges, manage interfaces and provide assurance that designs meet operational, safety and client requirements.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Help ensure successful transition from design and construction through to testing, commissioning and operational handover.
