Job summary

Hitachi Rail GTS UK Limited in London is seeking a Design Engineer for our Engineering team. You will design telecoms and network solutions to support London Underground projects, ensuring designs meet requirements, standards, budgets, and on-time delivery.

You will work with cross-functional teams to manage design work packages and follow CDM regulations to minimize safety risks. The role is hybrid, with two days per week at the Waterloo office, offering exposure to high-profile rail telecoms

Qualifications

• Experience with IP/MPLS, DWDM, and multi-service networks.
• Strong ability to use design tools to produce complex designs.
• Experience in telecoms engineering environments and understanding of the engineering lifecycle.
• Knowledge of CDM regulations and configuration control.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand project requirements and translate them into designs.
• Design solutions using industry best practices, processes and tools.
• Produce designs that are buildable and maintainable meeting customer requirements and standards.
• Identify and address technical debt, performance bottlenecks, and other issues.
• Work with other engineering disciplines to ensure project delivery.
• Follow project delivery processes and use defined tools as per Hitachi Rail guidelines.
• Escalate issues to Senior Design Engineer when necessary.
• Provide status reports to Senior Design Engineer
